In 1975 The brown seaweed, Ecklonia maxima, is identified as having beneficial effects on plant growth and the quest begins to develop a cellular level extraction technology.
In 1977 A mechanical pressure differential process avoiding the use of heat, freezing, chemical digestion or dehydration is developed, which will become known as the Cold Cellular Burst Technology.
In 1978 Patents are registered worldwide and the Kelpak story begins, with an initial focus into the South African agricultural and home garden market.
In 1979 The company partners with the University of Natal to further its understanding in respect to the active ingredients found in the natural resource.
In 1983 The first doctoral thesis on the plant hormones found in Kelpak is published by the University of Natal and understanding regarding the physiological triggering properties of the product accelerates.
In 1985 Kelpak establishes market dominance in the South African agricultural sector. The first export markets are established in Australia and the Far East.
In 1990 Kelpak expands its presence internationally. Further technical refinements introduced enhancing increased compatibility with a wider range of spray applications.
In 1995 international trialing accelerates and Kelpak continues to grow in the international sector.
In 1997 it is recognized for its continuing achievements by receiving the Western Cape Chamber of Commerce Exporter of the Year award.
In 1999 Kelpak establishes new markets in the America's and the expansion of existing markets continues.
In 2001 Kelpak achieves ISO 9002 accreditation.
In 2002 Kelpak's export achievements are further acknowledged by the Department of Trade and Industry in receiving the State President's Award for Export achievement.
In 2003 amongst its other organic accreditations, Kelpak's status as an organic agricultural input is further enhanced through its accreditation by the Institute of Marketology (IMO)
In 2005 Kelpak's international presence grows and is now extended to over 50 countries around the world. The achievement is once more recognized by winning the Western Cape Exporter of the Year Award.
In 2008 European, Australasian and South American offices established.
